Leeds are quite simply a better team when Pablo Hernandez plays

Leeds United shot back to the top of the Championship table last night after beating Ipswich Town 2-0 at home.

And one man’s return to the starting line-up was instrumental in halting a run of bad form.

Pablo Hernandez was at the centre of everything good for Leeds last night and once again proved why he is so important to their success.

After winning the club’s Player of the Year accolade last season, Hernandez is playing even better this year.

Under Marcelo Bielsa, he has more license to create things in midfield, making chances for his team-mates and himself.

Indeed, it was the veteran Spaniard who got the ball rolling last night with a wonderful assist.

His inch-perfect cross was the hard part with Kemar Roofe taking the plaudits for applying the finishing touch.

Leeds have sorely missed Hernandez in the past few games and it has affected the team’s form.

Bielsa’s men are far from a one-man team but Hernandez’s role in the side cannot be understated.

Without him, the Whites often fail to create that special moment that separates a draw from a win.

Hernandez has the ability to produce such moments of magic and Bielsa must be delighted to have a player of his quality in his ranks.
