Robbie Fowler has told Sky Sports that the 2019-20 campaign must be completed which will delight supporters of two of his former teams in Premier League leaders Liverpool, and Championship table-toppers Leeds United.
The Covid-19 outbreak has stopped all Premier League and Football League fixtures until April 3 – but the belief is that suspension will last longer than the initial stoppage. Leeds have seen their fixtures against Fulhan and Luton postponed.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are just six points away from winning the Premier League title. There has been talk that the 2019-20 campaign will be cancelled, while some have claimed that a 22-team Premier League could materialise.
Fowler, who played for both Leeds and Liverpool, thinks the 2019-20 campaign should be completed and that the Premier League and Football League need to wait until it is safe to restart the season again – rather than void the fixtures.

“The season has got to be played, regardless of how long we wait,” Fowler said. “It would be so unfair, not just on Liverpool but teams coming up from the Championship. They should wait as long as it takes, then play the games.
“If any season gets interrupted, it should be next season when everyone is on a level playing field and understands the implications.”
TBR’s view – Unprecedented scenes means speculation is rife
It has seen the likes of Karren Brady and Piers Morgan claim the season should be voided. Others have suggested Euro 2020 should be pushed back by 12 months, and the season finished in the summer.
Other claims have been that a 22-man Premier League campaign could be orchestrated next season. So, what is going to happen? Well, the authorities need to given supporters information.
Their lack of communication is a source of frustration for supporters, and until they make it clear what is going on, fans are only going to get more annoyed.
