Leeds United came within a whisker of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance for a fee of £20million in 2020. However, he failed a medical – and now, Bayern are willing to sell for a much smaller price.

Cuisance, 22, joined Bayern in the summer of 2019 from Gladbach – after 39 senior appearances for the Bundesliga side. But in his first season at Bayern, he managed just 11 outings, scoring only one for the German champions.

Leeds Live reported that the Whites were so close to splashing out £20million to get him. Numerous reports suggest that the French midfielder failed a medical, and instead, he moved to French side Marseille on loan.

Despite clocking up 30 appearances for Marseille during the 2020-21 season, in which Cuisance scored two goals – he was deemed a bit of a flop. Now, Cuisance is back at Bayern – playing just twice under Julian Nagelsmann.

Foot Mercato claim Bayern are willing to listen to offers for Cuisance. It is believed Italian side Venezia, and clubs from Russia and Turkey, have made offers. Bayern will sell him for just £8.5million – less than half what Leeds almost paid.

Cuisance for £8.5m: Should Leeds re-enter window for Bayern ace?

Clearly, Cuisance is a player that Victor Orta likes. The Spaniard’s knowledge of European football is extensive, and impressive. When it comes to French players, or French-based players, Leeds have certainly had success.

Illan Meslier is up there with one of his best bargains, while Raphinha is probably his best signing at Leeds. Cuisance is a player, so much so Leeds would have paid £20million. If available for £8.5million, Leeds really need to consider him.
