Marcelo Bielsa has made an immediate impact at Elland Road and it’s clear to see that his players are in awe of his tactical expertise. There is no better example than with Adam Forshaw’s recent comments on Kalvin Phillips being deployed at centre-back.
“Did I see it coming? If I’m honest, no,” Forshaw told Leeds Live.
“It’s a bit of a masterstroke isn’t it? I think Kalvin would say the same. He’s surprised. But from day one in training that’s why he played. Didn’t never play him anywhere else. It’s great that it’s paying dividends.
“He was magnificent tonight, spraying it left and right. I think one thing that really suits him in that position is he’s physical as well. He carries a lot of strength, he’s a good size.”

Phillips has been a revelation in the heart of defence and has immediately filled a gap which looked to be threatening Leeds’ incredible start to the season.
Filling in, Bielsa has looked around his squad and turned to the 22-year-old to take up a role in the back three against Ipswich Town in midweek.
After impressing there, it remains to be seen if Bielsa will pursue the change on a long-term basis. Whatever the Argentinian decides, it is hard to imagine that many, if any at all, would question the coach’s decision.
