Patrick Bamford has joked to the club’s chief executive Angus Kinnear on the official Leeds United podcast that the club should consider Real Madrid playmaker Isco as a possible summer signing.
Leeds are sitting comfortable in the Premier League having only gained promotion back to the top tier of English football last summer. Indeed, Leeds are safe from relegation and progression into next season is being discussed.
Indeed, supporters are dreaming of European football in the next few seasons and potential big-name signings. Juventus winger Douglas Costa has been linked, for example. But Bamford has his eyes on a Real Madrid player.
CEO Kinnear made a guest appearance on the podcast and after Beckford had asked him about the summer and whether there was any areas that required strengthening, Bamford suggested Isco as a possible addition.

Beckford said: “Have we got any ideas about strengthening? Any positions? Pat needs help, he wants some food on his plate – he has only got the 12.” Bamford jokingly replied: “I heard Isco is unhappy at Madrid, to be honest.”
Kinnear brushed aside Bamford’s suggestion: “Victor and his scouting team work all year round. Last summer, we built a team that could keep us up – a team that can be the basis for sustained development in the Premier League.”
TBR’s view – Is Isco really out of question?
Asking that question is testament to the growth of Leeds over the past 12 months. Leeds have the pull of Marcelo Bielsa, and now the safety that they are an established Premier League side.
Isco, 28, is out of favour at Madrid. He has managed 14 La Liga appearances this season, starting just three of those. He has entered the last 18 months of his contract at Madrid, and is expected to leave. The Mail says he will leave.
He will leave Madrid, Leeds are on the up and have the pull – but the big question mark would be, if a move was to be considered, whether the Whites could afford his £120,000-a-week (Express) wages. Who knows?
