Leeds United youngster Ian Poveda has admitted he’s trying to make himself more aggressive when it comes to his playing style on the pitch.

Poveda, 21, is an exciting talent signed by Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa back in January 2020 from Manchester City.

The London-born winger has been part of the Leeds group who have impressed on their return to the Premier League, and he’s made 14 senior appearances across all competitions this season.

He’s had to make the most of cameo displays from the bench in the league. However, the youngster has shown some aggression and enthusiasm whenever called upon by the senior team.

Poveda, who is a diminutive 5ft 5in, has explained he’s trying to work on improving his entire game, especially the physical side of it.

“They want me to be a complete player, attack and defend as well. I feel like I’m trying to make my aggression more, be more known [on the pitch],” Poveda told LUTV.

If you watch what Poveda does when he’s got the ball at his feet, you can tell that he was previously at the academies of Man City, Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The fleet-footed wide player is so direct and quick with his dribbling, something which to his credit doesn’t change when he comes off the bench to try impact Premier League matches.

Unfortunately, that’s not enough right to break into the Leeds XI due to the demands Bielsa puts on his players, as well as the quality within the squad.

His all-round game needs to improve to get more minutes on the pitch, but his attitude seems spot on, and he could have a big future at Elland Road if he keeps working hard.
