Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant has told the club’s official website that he is looking forward to pitting his wits against Leeds and the ‘interesting’ Marcelo Bielsa during pre-season.
The Red Devils take on the Championship outfit on July 17th in Australia as part of a pre-season tour.
Grant made just one appearance for United last season, coming on as a substitute during an EFL Cup defeat against Derby County.
He is loving life at United though and says he is enjoying coming up against Leeds and in particular their larger than life boss.
He told United’s official website: “Everybody enjoys playing against Leeds, it’s an important game in English football, so yes that’ll be a good one.
“Bielsa is really interesting, he seems like a large character. What I will say as well is that he is thought of really highly by a lot of the Spanish contingent in our squad.
“The more and more I read about him, the more intrigued I am. He’s a really interesting character.”
These comments from the United goalkeeper just enhance the concept that Bielsa is one of the most enigmatic characters in world football.
He is often seen as a coup for Leeds and at Championship level he really is.
In terms of the pre-season game, it seems unlikely that the Whites will come up against a full-strength United team, but nonetheless, it will be a good test.
Bielsa will be keen for his side to hit the ground running this season and the foundations to a good start can be built in pre-season.
