Arsenal were knocked out of the Europa League last night against Villarreal, with Lee Dixon ripping into Gunners player Martin Odegaard for one incident during the match.
Mikel Arteta’s side could only manage a 0-0 draw on Thursday night at home to Villarreal in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final.
The result meant that Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat from last week’s first leg settled the tie, with Villarreal going ahead to face Manchester United in the final.
Arsenal couldn’t find the goal they needed to qualify yesterday at the Emirates Stadium, and it’s shattered their entire season.
The north London club won’t be playing European football next season unless there is a considerable point swing in their favour during their final four Premier League games.
Dixon, who was commentating on last night’s game for BBC Radio 5 Live Sport, raged at Arsenal attacker Odegaard during the first half against Villarreal.
He was not happy with the 22-year-old’s lack of urgency when taking a corner.
“This game is lacking intensity from Arsenal, they need to get a goal, come on – I understand being patient and playing your game but Martin Odegaard went to take a corner and he walked over. Why is he walking over? Get over there and put the pressure on,” ex-Arsenal defender Dixon said.

TBR’s View:
If you consider Arsenal’s season was basically on the line yesterday, it was a really disappointing performance from them.
They couldn’t find the one goal that would’ve been enough to qualify for the final, and now face the prospect of no European football next season.
Manager Arteta now needs to drive his team to four wins from four in the league to try sneak up the table into a European spot, but their domestic form suggests that will be unlikely.
