Liverpool are into the FA Cup semi-final as they managed to see off a spirited display from Nottingham Forest to win out 1-0 at the City Ground.
Diogo Jota’s goal was enough for Liverpool to see off Forest, who more than impressed in front of the national TV cameras to outline their own Championship credentials. The Reds had enough chances too, as both Zinckernagel and Cafu both spurned fine chances in the game.

Another chance that nearly fell the way of Forest was in the 68th minute when the ball broke to Brennan Johnson. The young winger pulled the trigger despite the play being pulled back, but even then, Virgil van Dijk was in the way to block the attempt.
And commentating on the game for ITV today, former England man Lee Dixon was quick to point out just how good Van Dijk was in that specific moment.
“They put Van Dijk under pressure. But just watch how quick the Dutch defender gets out to Johnson. He’s right over, he knows what’s going to happen and gets there,” Dixon commented while on co-comms.
Van Dijk, in fairness to him, was once again imperious at the back and remains integral to the entire Liverpool set-up.
TBR’s View: Van Dijk Ruffled But Never Troubled By Forest
There were a few hairy moments for Liverpool and Van Dijk at times, with Keinan Davis a huge handful for any defender.
However, if there’s someone you want at the heart of the defence when the pressure is on, it’s Virgil van Dijk.
This moment pointed out by Dixon is typical of just how he is. He might have lost out a tad in the initial moment, but when the danger was there, he was in the way as usual. Put simply, Van Dijk is just sensational for Liverpool.
