Celtic are reportedly looking into the signature of West Bromwich Albion midfielder Rekeem Harper. The Daily Mail is reporting that Celtic want to bring the 19-year-old talent to the club on a free transfer, with his contract at West Brom ending this summer.
Harper was even reported to have watched Celtic’s final game of the season against Hearts at the weekend.
The report also goes on to suggest who is behind the interest. Celtic’s former recruitment chief Lee Congerton has reportedly been putting the hours to get the deal done.
However, if Congerton wanted Harper before, that has surely not changed?
He is now at Leicester City with Brendan Rodgers and will be looking to conduct better transfer business at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester have shown recently that they want to bring in top young British talent and Harper fits that bill. Of course, a compensation fee would be necessary, but Leicester will undoubtedly be as appealing to the player.
A switch from the West Midlands to the East Midlands must surely still be an option if Congerton was behind the interest in this talented teenager.
