Ex-Tottenham captain Ledley King believes his former side have signed a “great talent” this summer in midfielder Tanguy Ndomeble, but has urged fans to be patient with him.
Spurs broke their transfer record this summer to sign Ndombele for £53.8million (BBC) from Lyon.
The 22-year-old Frenchman is a box-to-box midfielder that has impressed in Ligue 1 and appears to have the physical attributes to be a hit in the Premier League too.
He’s been integrated into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad during pre-season and looked solid in the centre of the park.
King is confident that Ndombele is going to be a success with Spurs, but wants supporters to give him time to adjust and get up to speed.
“He’s an all-round type of midfield player. I think it will take him a little bit of time to get used to it here,” King told Football.London.
“The French league is different and I think he’s already said that the intensity of training sessions here and especially with Mauricio is going to take some getting used to.
“We’re going to have to be patient with him, but there’s no doubting he’s a top quality player. He came on in his first game and he affected the game, making an assist for a goal. We’re very happy to have brought him into the club and we have to be patient with him, get him up to speed and aware tactically of what the manager wants. He’s a great talent.”

TBR’s View:
Moussa Sissoko is a perfect example at Spurs that you should never write off a player too early, as he’s gone on to become a key player after a poor start.
He struggled at first after arriving for a big price tag, something that fans will hope doesn’t happen with their latest recruit.
Ndomeble appears to have settled in quickly though and it would be no surprise to see him light up the Premier League instantly.
He’s a powerhouse central midfielder that can offer something in attack too, as he was directly involved in 11 goals in 49 games across all competitions last season.
