Current Tottenham coach and former defender, Ledley King, has said that Eric Dier has been so impressive this season with his form in the back three.
Dier has been a mainstay of the team under Antonio Conte and has formed a solid enough trio alongside Cristian Romero and Ben Davies in the Spurs defence. Indeed, Dier has been credited with helping Romero settle in, with the new Spurs man name-checking Dier in a recent interview.

And while Brighton might have spoiled the party for Tottenham today, speaking before the game, King was full of praise for England man Dier.
“Do you know what, with Eric, it was his first proper season as a centre-half – where he committed to being a centre-half – last season. So I think he found it a little bit difficult. This season, with a year under his belt, he seems a lot more confident,” King said on BT.
“But one thing that struck me about Eric straight away was that he was a leader. He was a vocal player on the pitch and I think someone like him has been perfect for Romero. He’s a really intelligent guy too, he speaks different languages so it’s helped definitely.”
There have been calls in recent weeks for Gareth Southgate to call Dier back into the England fold. Certainly, if he can continue doing well for Spurs, then a place in Qatar shouldn’t be ruled out completely.
TBR’s View: Dier Showing His Worth For Tottenham
Today was a bad day at the office for Tottenham. However, there is no denying how good Eric Dier has been this season and that he’s proven a lot of people wrong.
There was a period when most would have said Dier had no future with Spurs. However, now, he looks like a key player and Tottenham would have to spend big to replace him.
Ledley King’s praise will mean a lot to Dier. King was a class act himself, and Dier will be determined to keep improving and impressing.
