Spurs cruised into the next round of the Europa League last night with another comfortable win over Wolfsberger, with Dele Alli catching the eye.

Alli scored a stunning overhead kick to put Spurs ahead and never looked back, delivering a performance akin to that of the Dele Alli we all know so well from previous seasons.

It was a successful night on the whole for Spurs, too. Jose Mourinho afforded chances to a number of young players, as the likes of Dane Scarlett, Nile John, and Marcel Lavinier all got game time.

For John and Lavinier, it was a debut for the pair and one to remember, given the nature of the win. And Spurs coach and club legend, Ledley King, was clearly proud of the young duo, as he took to Twitter to send his well-wishes to the pair.

The Europa League has given Jose Mourinho the ideal opportunity this season to blood some of his youngsters. John and Lavinier were two to get their debuts last night, but Dane Scarlett – who bagged an assist yesterday – had already been afforded his chance.

Spurs fans, like King, will be hoping this is the first of many appearances for the Spurs youngsters.

Mourinho is hardly famed for putting his faith in an abundance of youth but last night was at least a sign that the club does have some coming through the ranks.

Scarlett is the standout of course. But John and Lavinier will hope to use this experience to further their development and kick on.

Whether that be this season, or next term, remains to be seen. Either way, last night will prove invaluable for John and Lavinier.
