Ledley King has told Sky Sports News (Wednesday, 12.35PM) that Antonio Conte could take Tottenham into the top four – following his appointment.
Conte, 52, put pen to paper on an 18-month deal with a view to another year. A somewhat surprising move, he rejected a move in the summer.
The ex-Chelsea, Juventus, Inter and Italy gaffer was first choice in the summer. But Spurs were rejected on numerous occasions by managers.
It saw them hire Nuno Espirito Santo, who was potentially fifth or sixth choice. Paulo Fonseca, Gennaro Gattuso and more failed to get the job.
Tottenham legend King has responded on SSN when asked about Conte, giving his verdict and whether Spurs can finish in the top four.

“It’s huge, a real statement of intent. Conte is one of the best around. To secure his services is great, Spurs fans should be excited,” King said.
“He is a serial winner. It’s difficult [top-four spot], but it’s realistic. The performances have not been there, but the league position is not bad.”
King on Conte: Can Tottenham really get into the top four?
Before the start of the season, it looked clear. Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City were easily the top four sides.
That has rang true so far. Chelsea have proven their title credentials, while Manchester City are the champions and Liverpool are back to their best.
Manchester United have stuttered despite their summer signings. But they are still far ahead of Spurs, beating Tottenham 3-0 on Sunday at Spurs.
So, do Tottenham have a chance of breaking into the top four? Of course they do, at this early stage – but they will have to be at their very, very best.
