Lecce boss confirms ‘fantastic’ Patrick Dorgu is heading to Manchester United on Saturday
Giampaolo, speaking to reporters after the game, admitted Dorgu will indeed be flying to Manchester on Saturday.
Dorgu was named on the Lecce bench for the game, but he remained an unused substitute.
Giampaolo revealed that he didn’t play Dorgu because he felt his mind may already be at Old Trafford.
The Lecce boss made it clear that the 20-year-old has always done his best for Lecce, describing him as a “fantastic player and guy”.
Man United are set to land Dorgu for up to £30million after beating the likes of Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.
Why Dorgu was in the Lecce matchday squad against Parma
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey confirmed that Dorgu himself wanted to be available for Lecce’s game against Parma.
The player made it clear to Man United that he wanted to play in the relegation six-pointer, and the Red Devils bowed to his request.
Prior to the match, only goal difference separated the two sides, with Lecce third from bottom at the time.
Lecce’s victory at the Stadio Ennio Tardini has put them 13th in the Serie A table, three points ahead of 18th-placed Parma.
