‘Learn a lot’: Diego Forlan now thinks Darwin Nunez will learn so much from ‘great’ Liverpool man

It’s safe to say that Liverpool haven’t been able to replicate the success of last season so far this campaign.

The Reds find themselves well off the pace in the Premier League, with a title challenge now surely out of the question.

In an interview with TalkSPORT, Diego Forlan has spoken about Liverpool’s biggest summer signing.

Darwin Nunez arrived from Benfica for a club-record fee of £85m, and has had an up-and-down start to life at Anfield.

A goal, assist and red card in his first two league appearances made plenty of headlines.

However, despite a slow start in front of goal, Nunez has started to show why he demanded such a massive price tag.

Five goal contributions in his last six league matches, as well as goals in his last three Champions League appearances is an impressive contribution.

Nunez has some world class teammates to play alongside now who will help with development.

But Forlan now thinks Nunez can learn the most from playing under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Nunez can learn so much from playing for Klopp

Speaking to TalkSPORT, the former Manchester United forward spoke about his fellow countryman’s start to life at Liverpool.

“I think it’s good [Nunez’s start],” Forlan said.

“Of course, everybody was expecting more goals maybe because of the amount they paid for him.

“I think he’s doing really good, he’s scoring goals, he’s playing.

“Now, the team is struggling a little bit, in the Premier League they are not doing what they were doing in the last couple of years.

“But, he has a great manager, very experienced, so he will learn a lot from him and so with the players.

“So, I think he’s doing his job, of course he can improve, and he will improve in the future.”

Nunez can learn a lot from Klopp, but the German’s coaching staff have already been impressed by the Uruguayan.

A report from The Athletic suggests they were over the moon with how he dealt with Emerson Royal and Eric Dier against Spurs.

Klopp still believes the 23-year-old can improve defensively, but that will come with time.

Nunez has turned out to be one of the most entertaining players in the Premier League this season.

His movement and decision-making at times has been unpredictable to say the least.

However, he’s shown signs of being a fantastic striker with some classy finishes and bullet headers.
