Latest report on Arzani’s contract shows he was a pointless signing for Celtic

A shambolic transfer window for Celtic was the precursor for their below-par title defence so far.

Brendan Rodgers was unable to secure the transfers he desired, Dederick Boyata’s indecision undermined the club’s Champions League hopes and Moussa Dembele was snatched away at the last.

The warning signs were there then and the latest report about one summer arrival represents further bad news.

A report from Australian outlet The World Game, Daniel Arzani, a summer signing from Manchester City, could be set for a rapid departure from Celtic Park.

They say that the loanee can return to Manchester City at the end of November if he has not made a first team appearance for the Bhoys by then.

That looks as if it will be the case, and if he does return to the Etihad as expected, the obvious question will be; what on earth was the point of signing him?

His arrival and treatment at Celtic Park is cause for concern; it hints at a shambolic setup and issues rumbling behind the scenes.

The player himself may well be best off out of it; at least he can go somewhere where he will play. But for Celtic, the cracks will continue to show.
