James Maddison received applause from Tottenham supporters today before a ball had even been kicked against Wolves.
The 27-year-old’s act was highlighted by Michael Bridge of Sky Sports before kick-off.
So, what did James Maddison do before Tottenham kicked off against Wolves? Let’s take a look…
Tottenham fans applaud James Maddison for pre-match moment
Well, the England international went viral before kick-off after Tottenham posted footage of the midfielder meeting a young supporter called Samuel, who has cerebral palsy.
Maddison tugged on heartstrings across the country as he squatted down to talk the youngster through the day, and what would be happening as the pair walked out onto the pitch together ahead of kick-off.
When the moment actually arrived, Bridge called the £40m man “a credit” to Tottenham and claimed that the supporters gave both a loud cheer.
The Sky Sports reporter wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “James Maddison such a credit to this club. Samuel getting an extra large cheer from the crowd. #THFC”.
Since Ange Postecoglou arrived in north London, it feels like this sort of gesture has become a regular occurrence, as the bond between fans and players grows closer than it has been for some time.
No wonder Ange Postecoglou loves James Maddison
Postecoglou interestingly handed Maddison a leadership role almost immediately after signing him from Leicester back in June, which spoke volumes about how the Australian views the man from Coventry.
The footage of Tottenham’s No.10 meeting Samuel and his family just oozed class, as he ensured nobody present felt isolated from the moment with each family member acknowledged.

It was a moment of real class from Maddison, who displays a similar level of quality out on the pitch too – he also claims to be the last to leave training at Hotspur Way.
With everything taken into account, the England international surely has to be in with a shout of being signing of the summer.
