Aston Villa are reportedly preparing an offer for River Plate youngster Julian Alvarez.
According to TNT Sport, Dean Smith’s side will lodge a €10m (£8.5m) offer for the Argentina international. Moreover, Alvarez was part of the squad that won the Copa America this weekend.

The youngster is hotly tipped with a move to Europe this summer. Furthermore, with Villa’s pursuit of Emile Smith Rowe seemingly petering out, attentions have now shifted to Alvarez.
The right-sided winger, who can also play as a number ten, was impressive for River last season both domestically and continentally. In all competitions, Alvarez scored four goals and assisted seven for the South American giants.

Indeed, Alvarez could be a smart signing for Villa this window. Moreover, supporters on social media are keen on the club adding the youngster to their ranks this summer if Smith Rowe does remain with Arsenal.
As reported by CBS Soccer’s James Benge, the Gunners are confident that Smith Rowe will sign a new long-term deal with the club.

Furthermore, Arsenal recently announced that youth goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has penned a new five-year contract with the north London side.
And given Mikel Arteta’s track record of signing Arsenal youngsters to new long-term deals, such as Bukayo Saka and Folarian Balogun, there’s a strong chance Smith Rowe will also remain with the club.
Aston Villa fans are excited by Alvarez
Yet Villa fans are seemingly unfazed with this news, and here’s what some supporters had to say about the club’s interest in Alvarez on Twitter…

Villa have already signed one Argentine this window in the form of Emi Buendia. Indeed, the winger joined from Norwich City for a club-record fee, yet Smith is eager to add more creativity to the squad this summer.
