Frank Lampard is reportedly pushing Everton to make a move to sign England international Jesse Lingard, with the former Manchester United midfielder still a free agent following his exit from Old Trafford.
According to the Sun, the Toffees manager is interested in signing the Premier League star, with Lampard viewing Lingard as a major target for his plans this summer as Everton look to improve on last season’s near-scare with relegation.
As per the report, though, West Ham remain the favourites to sign Lingard, who was a sensation for the Irons in the 2020/21 season during a six-month loan spell in east London, and it is believed that David Moyes’ side are the most likely side to land the 29-year-old.
Moreover, the report states that Lingard would only view Everton as a last resort if a move to West Ham breaks down or other interested parties fail to sign the former Red Devils midfielder, with the Englishman seemingly reluctant to move to Goodison Park.
Hailed as ‘amazing’ by Rio Ferdinand, Lingard is expected to move to a big side this summer despite not having a real run of games since his loan spell with West Ham, and for Everton, the versatile Premier League player could be an exceptional signing if they can beat the Irons to the punch.
Everton face tough battle to sign Lingard over rival sides

Lingard is one of English football’s most curious players, with the Three Lions international clearly an exceptional player when in the right squad and playing in the right system, and for Everton, they race a tough battle trying to lure the former United man to Merseyside with West Ham keen on signing their former loan star.
Indeed, a return to West Ham feels almost inevitable at this stage for Lingard, but with Lampard seemingly desperate to sign the 29-year-old this summer, Everton could pull off the improbable and sign the midfielder this summer through sheer willpower.
