Lampard does not expect any injured Everton stars to return vs Man United
Frank Lampard had more bad news for Everton fans after their side slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Burnley last night.
Two Richarlison penalties had a crucial win in the palm of Everton’s hands, before Jay Rodriguez and Maxwel Cornet turned the game around.
The result means that Everton are just one point clear of last night’s opponents, having both played 29 matches of the season.
Next up for Everton is Manchester United at Goodison Park and the turnaround is tight; it is a 12.30pm kick off on Saturday.
And after the game, Lampard was asked if any of the players who missed last night’s game with injury would be back for that one.
As per BBC Sport, he said: “Probably the same, no, probably the same.”
Donny van de Beek was out injured last night and would be ineligible to face his parent club on Saturday anyway.
Nathan Patterson and Andros Townsend are longer term absentees, and it appears that there are no other more short term reinforcements coming.
United are in poor form, and slipping away from the top four race, so there is the chance that Everton can get a big result this weekend.
Goodison Park will need to be up for it, but Lampard will have to go with the same players he had last night to get the result.
