Lamela and Hart laud Spurs teammate Eric Dier after Carabao Cup final

Eric Dier’s performance in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final appears to have impressed his Tottenham Hotspur teammates, with the likes of Erik Lamela and Joe Hart lauding the defender on Instagram.

Spurs’ latest trip to Wembley proved to be a disappointing one. They were beaten by a late Aymeric Laporte header as Manchester City retained the trophy.

Ryan Mason’s men did not manage to ask too many questions of their opponents going forward.

But they had more than threatened to take the game into extra-time after a superb defensive display.

Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld and Dier all produced really strong performances.

Dier has come in for a lot of criticism this season. There have been times when he has been a colossus at the back. However, all of Tottenham’s centre-backs have struggled for consistency at various points.

But he really stepped up on Sunday. And some of his teammates made sure to praise the England international on social media following his performance.

Dier took to Instagram to comment on the result and express his devastation. But he also wanted to pay tribute to the fans who were able to attend the game.
