‘Lack of heart’: Trevor Sinclair says Leeds loss at Manchester City down to Chelsea efforts

Leeds United were hammered 7-0 in midweek by Manchester City and according to Talksport pundit Trevor Sinclair, the players displayed a lack of heart during the defeat.

Pep Guardiola’s City side were rampant in their display. They seized on mistakes and took their chances well to ensure there was simply no answer from Bielsa’s Leeds. The loss came just a few days after the Whites had come within minutes of snatching a result at Chelsea.

And according to Talksport pundit Sinclair, Leeds were lacking heart and quality during the embarrassing loss.

“Listen, you can lose and you can be over run against a team like City. But I think it was the lack of heart. The lack of energy. You know, that’s almost their identity. Their DNA, and I just think that was missing,” Sinclair said.

“I think it comes back off the Chelsea game where they ran them really closely. They put a lot of effort into that game and I thought they were just a bit fatigued.”

Leeds have had an indifferent first half of the Premier League season to say the least. The Whites are just five points off the drop zone and are currently in the midst of an awful injury crisis too.

TBR’s View: Leeds Style Bound To Suffer In Certain Games

It did feel that Leeds ran out steam against City. They tried to stick to their usual game plan but against opposition as good Pep’s men, it was a near impossible job.

Despite his experience, Marcelo Bielsa will have learnt a lot from this humbling. Well, at least Leeds fans will be hoping so. The key players being out is a big blow. However, Bielsa must surely show a bit more caution in these games too.

Sinclair has a point about the Chelsea game. But overall, Leeds will be hugely disappointed with the night at The Etihad.
