Alexandre Lacazette has superbly lauded Nicolas Pepe on Instagram after Arsenal beat Sunderland in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
The Gunners booked their last four spot with a 5-1 win at the Emirates. Admittedly, the Black Cats gave a much-changed Arsenal side a bit of a scare towards the end of the first-half.

However, Arsenal were comfortable from the moment they got a third goal. Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick, while 18-year-old Charlie Patino marked his debut with the fifth.
But it was also an important night for Pepe, who came back into the side after a quiet spell in the Premier League. In fact, he had only made one substitute appearance since the end of October.

Obviously, it is difficult to get carried away given the opposition. But Pepe was labelled outstanding by Paul Merson after the win. Plenty of Arsenal fans meanwhile, were blown away as he gave full-back Denver Hume a torrid evening.

It was a reminder of what Pepe can do when he is playing with confidence. He nutmegged Hume twice in quick succession in almost the same spot on the pitch.
He also provided two assists, and a goal of his own.
Of course, it is unlikely to lead to the Ivorian becoming a first-choice in the top-flight anytime soon. But what it may do is tempt Mikel Arteta to hand him a couple more opportunities in the weeks ahead.
Pepe took to Instagram following the game to pay tribute to the supporters and Patino. And amongst those to reply was Lacazette, whose message translates as: ‘You are actually good’…
