Kylian Mbappe has been blown away by one Liverpool star and has branded him as a ‘super player’.
The Frenchman is an absolute superstar. He has played with and against some of the best players in the world over the years, so he knows a brilliant talent when he sees one.
Now, Mbappe has delivered a glowing verdict on one Liverpool star – not just for what he does on the pitch but for who he is off it.
Kylian Mbappe shares what Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate is like off the pitch
Liverpool signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021
Jurgen Klopp gave him the time he needed to adapt to the Premier League, and he has since been a solid defender for the Reds.
The 25-year-old was a regular at Liverpool for large parts of last season alongside Virgil van Dijk, and he mostly had a good season.
Konate has now travelled with the France squad to Germany for the Euros, and he is expected to start for Didier Deschamps’ side.
Mbappe, who has been named the captain of Les Bleus, appears to be a huge fan of Konate – both on and off the pitch.
The Real Madrid superstar has claimed that Konate is an ‘absolute beast’ on the field, but he’s a very cheerful guy off it, which is why everyone loves him.
Speaking to Ouest-France, Mbappe said: “Ibou! Super player and super guy.
“There’s a pretty crazy thing about him: on the field, he’s an absolute beast who you don’t want to cross, but outside, he’s a cream, a very cheerful and friendly guy. He’s really melted into the group very quickly.
“In fact, it’s like he has been there for ten years, while he arrived two years ago. It is one of his greatest strengths, beyond the footballer who is constantly growing.
“He takes on importance in the group. He does not hesitate to speak. He is really good. He took the place of holder that occupied, Raph (Varane), in central defence, a game sector with a lot of competition, where we have a sacred pool in France.
“We are very happy to have him with us.”

Konate is attracting transfer interest
Konate was solid for Liverpool for large parts of the 2023/24 season, but he made a few mistakes towards the end of the campaign.
That forced Klopp to drop him to the bench in the final four games of the Premier League – he played just three of the last 10.
That led to rumours that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Konate if his contract talks with Liverpool, which has been going on for a few months, does not materialise.
Konate will enter the final two years of his deal this summer, and the last thing Liverpool would want is to see contract talks get further delayed.
It will be interesting to see what will happen with Konate in the coming months.
