PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has raved about the current Liverpool team in an interview with BBC Sport.
The Frenchman sat down with English press at the launch of his new charity, ‘Inspired by Kylian Mbappe (IBKM)’.
AS have previously linked the World Cup winner with a move to Liverpool, although Jurgen Klopp has always maintained the star is out of his price range.
Mbappe cost a staggering £165.7 million when he signed for the Parisians in 2017 and has been inspired since arriving.
In 109 appearances for the club, he has netted 81 goals and registered 44 assists, becoming one of the best players in the world.
Asked about Liverpool he couldn’t help but praise what Klopp is achieving right now.
He told BBC Sport: “What Liverpool do at this moment is amazing. They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like ‘we play again, we play again’.
“They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything’s easy but that’s not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win and win again.
“The problem now is that everybody watches Liverpool and everybody watches what we can do against them. So now they have to show they are strong again. It’s a very good team with a very good manager.”
Liverpool are currently 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand on their rivals.
It looks ominous for the rest of the division that the Reds will lay their hands on a first title for nearly 30 years this season.
Klopp’s side have improved each season and they are perhaps the envy of world football at the moment.
When a player like Mbappe is coming out and saying great things, it has to be deemed as a good sign.
The French striker does make a good point, however, that the better Liverpool become, the more everyone else will want to beat them.
Teams will be out to try and end their long unbeaten run and Klopp will be wary of that.
Whether Liverpool can maintain such a ruthless streak in the league and successfully retain their Champions League crown remains to be seen.
On current form, you wouldn’t find too many people betting against them.
A dream for the Reds would be to sign Mbappe. He is comfortably one of the best talents in the world and could take the Premier League by storm.
PSG are on a project to win the Champions League, however. They won’t want to lose their star man to a rival for the trophy.
If Liverpool could get him it’d be a massive coup.
He’d be the sort of signing that would thrive under Klopp’s stewardship and he’d be capable of raising the roof at Anfield.
