Everton look set to add another veteran full-back to their ranks.

Indeed, after having the likes of Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young as options last season, the Toffees are now close to signing Kyle Walker according to The Sun.

Walker would certainly be an interesting addition to this Everton squad. After all, he comes with huge experience and plenty of trophies in his collection.

David Moyes looks set to land the England star, and, interestingly, this has been a move 16 years in the making.

Kyle Walker rejected Everton before joining Tottenham in 2009, and he opened up on why he rejected the Merseyside club at that time.

Why Kyle Walker rejected David Moyes at Everton

Walker spoke about why he rejected Everton in 2009 on his podcast.

The defender says he chose Spurs over Everton due to the fact he wasn’t invited to David Moyes’ house at the time, and he believed Tottenham were much more keen to sign him.

After joining Spurs, Walker became one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and Everton lived to regret this decision for a long time.

“I was close to signing for Everton before I signed for Tottenham. Just to let you know,” Walker said.

“Who was manager?” Walker was asked.

“David Moyes,” Walker said.

“But didn’t Spurs sign both you and Naughton?” The host asked.

“Yeah, and Naughts went to his house. Naughts went to Moyes’ house and he never invited me. So I went down to Devon, to Tottenham and I was like okay they like me more, so I signed for Tottenham,” Walker added.

Walker has lost just two matches out of 23 against Everton, so the Toffees know first-hand just how brilliant the right-back can be at his best.

Walker now looks set to join Everton, and he’ll hope to continue his fantastic record of winning on Merseyside if he does indeed make this switch and finally join David Moyes.
