Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been praised by Spurs academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Southampton ace was speaking about the Tottenham talisman on England’s official YouTube channel.

Walker-Peters burst onto the scene for Spurs with an impressive debut against Newcastle in August 2017.

Despite his superb start to life at Tottenham, he managed just 24 appearances for the Tottenham senior team.

In 2019-20, Walker-Peters made five appearances for Spurs and just one after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino.

This was despite the club’s lack of options at right-back at the time.

Eventually, he swapped Spurs for Southampton on loan in January last year and was sold in August.

Now, Walker-Peters is shining for Saints and has received his first England call-up.

“Really focused and professional”

He and Kane are in the squad for their upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

The 24-year-old spoke about Kane’s influence on him as a young player and lauded his game and personality.

“My memories of H go all the way back to when I was young,” said Walker-Peters.

“Coming through the Tottenham academy and always seeing him progress, he is someone that is really focused and professional.

“As a young player when I first went into the Tottenham first team I took a lot from that. His demeanour and the way he carries himself.

“Credit to him, he deserves everything he’s achieved so far.”

Kane himself also praised Walker-Peters ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Switzerland.

He said, as per Football London: “It is great to have new faces in the squad, young faces, I feel like I am getting older and older by the day.

“It is great to see them. I obviously know Kyle [Walker-Peters] from when he was at Spurs, he is a great lad, he works really hard and he has done really well at Southampton.”
