Joe Hart has posted on Instagram after it was confirmed he had joined Tottenham Hotspur on a two-year deal following his release from Burnley – and both Kyle Walker and Micah Richards have responded, among others.
Hart, 33, has endured a difficult four years since being ousted by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. He has since gone on loan to Italian side Torino and West Ham, before moving to Burnley on a permanent deal in 2018.
But just 24 outings in two seasons saw Burnley decide against renewing his contract at the end of the season – and the 75-time England international became a free agent. He has now found a new home at Spurs.
The goalkeeper has agreed a contract at Spurs until the summer of 2022 and is expected to rival Paulo Gazzaniga as the club’s second-choice goalkeeper. He posted on Instagram after a move was confirmed.
Hart becomes Tottenham’s second addition of the summer after Daniel Levy pulled off a masterstoke in landing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for just £15million – with Kyle Walker-Peters going the other way for £12million.
Plenty of former players and teammates responded to Hart’s post on Instagram, with many congratulating the experienced stopper. Walker, who played for Spurs before Manchester City wished him well.
While ex-Manchester City man and now BBC pundit Richards believes a move to Tottenham was “fully deserved”.
