Kyle Lafferty needs to rediscover form ahead of hectic Rangers fixtures

Rangers attacker Kyle Lafferty started the season with a bang at Ibrox after he re-signed from Hearts, but it’s gone quiet on his front recently due to form and a suspension.

The Northern Ireland international has scored four goals in 11 senior appearances for the Gers so far this campaign, but not netted since September.

He is the main alternative to in-form Alfredo Morelos at centre-forward and it’s inevitable he will be recalled to the starting XI at some point in the next couple of months.

The Light Blues still have 11 fixtures across all competitions before the end of the calendar year and it seems unlikely that manager Steven Gerrard will be able to start Morelos in every single match.

Lafferty, 31, provides a brilliant senior option to step in at Ibrox and he could do with playing himself back into form during the international break.

He is part of the Northern Ireland squad that will face off against Republic of Ireland in a friendly, as well as hosting Austria in the Nations League.

The striker could do with getting on the scoresheet to boost his confidence and show to Gerrard he can play an important role moving forward.

He’s shown in the past he can be a prolific goalscorer and a purple patch of form would be perfect timing for Rangers, as they look to progress from the Europa League group stages and close down the two-point gap to leaders Celtic in the league.
