Kyle Bradley posts farewell Tweet to Rangers, but is this the wrong move?

Kyle Bradley has informed Rangers fans on Twitter that he will be leaving the club at the end of his contract, with Rangers opting not to extend his current deal – but is it the right decision?

The 20-year-old, who made his Rangers debut under Pedro Caixinha has a five-minute substitute during a 2-1 win over St. Johnstone back in May 2017, is set to leave on May 31.

Though he has failed to make a return to senior football at competitive level, he impressed Steven Gerrard at the beginning of the campaign – being used in the 6-0 friendly win over Bury.

He was also named on the bench in the 0-0 away draw with FK Shkupi during the Europa League qualifying stage, but he has failed to even be near the Gers first team since.

Indeed, Rangers landed Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley after sitting on the bench in Macedonia. Instead, he has played 28 times for Annan Athletic on loan in Scottish League Two.

So, are Rangers making the right decision in letting Bradley leave? It is plain to see that at 20 years of age, he is not good enough to play for the senior side in the Scottish Premiership.

But while the Gers are set to wave goodbye to loanee Worrall and McAuley this summer, surely keeping Bradley would be a good move until Gerrard can find cover.

The Europa League qualifying stage starts very early, as always, and without Worrall and McAuley, Rangers have no depth at centre-back. Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic are the two starting players, but there is little option after that.

Keeping Bradley for another 12 months as cover should have been the route Rangers go down, but it now seems he is leaving.
