Wolverhampton Wanderers should consider joining the hunt for Nantes defender Enock Kwateng this summer.

According to Goal, Premier League clubs Watford and Southampton are both keen on signing the 21-year-old, who has been a mainstay for the Ligue 1 club this term.

He has made 24 appearances in total for the French outfit and has caught the eye with some marauding displays at right-back.

Kwateng is also a French youth international, which further suggests his exciting potential.

He is certainly an up-and-coming star in the French top flight, and Wolves definitely need to keep their eye on this one.

A potential bargain

Ominously, Kwateng will become a free agent this summer should he fail to sign a new deal with Nantes in the next few months.

He could therefore be a really shrewd piece of business for Nuno Espirito Santo, who may feel the need for a bargain or two if £30 million-rated Raul Jimenez is to sign for the club permanently (The Sun).

He’s also featured heavily in both the Carabao and FA Cups.

It was a risk by Nuno to head into the season relying solely on Doherty but it appears to have paid off – but it may be foolish to try to do the same next season.

Kwateng has the attacking ability to be able to operate as a right wing-back, and also the versatility to be able to play at centre-back if needed – he really could be a shrewd summer signing.
