Stan Kroenke proves irrelevant figure in Arsenal’s descent to obscurity amid backlash from Martin Keown – TBR View

So Stan Kroenke seems to be shouldering a lot of the blame following Arsenal’s crisis amid the increasing likeliness of the lack of European football for next season.

The Europa League semi-final loss to Villarreal last week saw Martin Keown turn on the club’s owner in a quite stunning rant during BT Sport’s (as per Goal) coverage of the encounter.

And a simple analysis of the situation would have you question yourself over just why an American, who takes no interest in the Gunners’ affairs is getting stick for the club’s decline. It’s a strange one, no?

Since he acquired a significant stake in the club way back in 2011, over a decade ago, one thing has been clear, and that’s Kroenke Sports & Entertainment’s lack of passion to take care of the outfit.

Whilst it sounds bad, which it probably is, how can you blame someone who actively looks to avoid taking part in affairs?

First Arsene Wenger was given complete control over the footballing side of things which lasted until 2018 when he was pressured to leave the club.

Since then Arsenal have been through three managers with the latest, Mikel Arteta under increasing pressure after a shocking season in north London.

Yet, it’s the Missouri-born businessman from across the Atlantic ocean, who takes most of the stick. Why?

Is Stan taking control of a star-studded squad of players, who only a year previously defeated Manchester City and Chelsea on the way to an unlikely FA Cup victory? No, he’s not and neither is his son, Josh, for that matter.

He’s also not in charge of the woeful tactics and starting XI’s which have plagued the side for the most part of this season or the shocking transfers over the last few years.

Much like with Manchester United fans, who have spent the best part of billions in their attempt to return to the top of English football, there seems to be a keen desire to pick out a scapegoat. And let’s be honest, it’s incredibly simple to pick out two silent owners in the Kroenke’s and Glazer families, who are mere watchers, and not reasons, in the descent to hell by both these huge clubs.
