Kristoffer Ajer’s agent has claimed that the defender will leave Celtic during the summer transfer window with several clubs interested in the 21-year-old, in comments reported by the Daily Record.

Ajer has been a revelation during his time at Parkhead. He has arguably established himself as one of the most exciting defensive talents in Europe.

The youngster has not only shown that he is a fantastic centre-back, but he has become synonymous with his marauding runs up the field.

Unfortunately for the Hoops, it appears that his days with Neil Lennon’s men are numbered.

His agent, Tore Pedersen has insisted that the starlet will be on the move this summer as he has no intention of penning a fresh deal with the club.

“He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.

“There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it.”

TBR View – Major blow for Celtic if Ajer leaves

Celtic fans will be aware that it was always likely that they would lose Ajer at some stage. But it will still be a major blow for the Bhoys if he leaves in the coming months.

Of course, the Hoops will rightly argue that they do not have to sell the defender. The Record notes that he has two years left on his contract.

So even if Ajer has a similar view to his agent, the ball remains in Celtic’s court for the time-being.

Admittedly, the Hoops are still not in an ideal position. But they can demand a huge fee for Ajer and keep hold of him beyond the summer if no club meets their demands.
