Kris Boyd has confidently claimed that Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is good enough to join a top Premier League side and make a difference in their team.
The centre-forward has built up his reputation in Scotland since he joined the Bhoys on loan in 2017, before making his deal permanent the following summer.
He’s been in sensational form this season for Neil Lennon’s side, scoring 23 goals and supplying 17 assists in 38 games across all competition.
The France Under-21 international has shown he’s a composed finisher around the penalty box, as well as being a great target man that can link up play too.
Sky Sports pundit Boyd is adamant that the 22-year-old is good enough to play for a top side in England, suggesting that he could do a job at the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United.
“If I am one of the top teams in England right now I would go and take Odsonne Edouard from Celtic,” Boyd said on Sky Sports’ The Debate Show (10:10pm, 13 February).
“For me Odsonne Edouard is a top, top player. I think he could be someone who comes down here and actually make a difference to someone like a Chelsea, like a Manchester United.
“I firmly believe Odsonne Edouard could go for a substantial fee from Celtic, but he could do it in [the Premier League].”
Edouard already looks a complete package aged just 22 in terms of being a centre-forward that is strong in most areas of his game and there is no reason why he won’t keep improving with more experience.
The Scottish giants will be hoping his exit isn’t anytime soon, but it would be intriguing to see him test himself in the Premier League further down the line.
He has looked a goal threat when thrown into European football with Celtic and he’s going to be crucial when the club turn their attention to the knockout rounds of this season’s Europa League competition.
Edouard has recently struck up a great partnership next to Leight Griffiths in attack and they are leading the club towards another league title at this rate.
