Liverpool smashed West Ham United in the Carabao Cup last night, and Virgil van Dijk and Kostas Tsimikas were blown away by Harvey Elliott.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side were always the favourites to win the game, but nobody really expected a hammering. The Irons conceded five against Liverpool, who dominated the game from start to finish. Elliott was one of the stars of the show.

Kostas Tsimikas and Virgil van Dijk impressed by Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott is slowly finding his feet on a consistent basis at Liverpool, isn’t he?

The 20-year-old is a fantastic talent, there is no doubt there. Jurgen Klopp rates him highly, but for one reason or another, he has struggled to deliver week in, week out.

Elliott got a start against West Ham in the Carabao Cup last night, and he had an amazing game. He ran the show against the Irons, especially in the first half, and was arguably the best player on the pitch.

The £40,000-a-week (Spotrac) man took to Instagram to celebrate the win last night, and many of his teammates, including Virgil van Dijk and Kostas Tsimikas, showed him some love.

The Liverpool captain replied with a fire emoji, while Tsimikas wrote: “Magician!”

Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones were also impressed.

Harvey Elliott played to his strengths last night

One of the biggest reasons why Harvey Elliott was so good last night is because he played to his strengths.

The 20-year-old started on the right wing, in Mohamed Salah‘s position. Elliott has often struggled there because he’d try to emulate the Egyptian instead of playing his own game. Things were different last night.

Elliott was all over West Ham in the first half. He was given time and space by the visitors, and he completely bossed the game in the final third. Even Jurgen Klopp was spotted applauding him from the touchline last night.

Liverpool take on Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend, and it will be interesting to see if Elliott will be given a start after his performance against the Hammers.
