Kolo Muani’s big problem vs Copenhagen that the Danish press couldn’t stop talking about

Tottenham forward Kolo Muani caught the eye of the Danish press for his actions in the win over Copenhagen.

It was a fantastic night’s work for Thomas Frank’s men that included a stunning goal from Micky van de Ven.

Amid question marks over his form, Xavi Simons also shone for Tottenham during the 4-0 hammering.

While Van de Ven stole the headlines with his Lionel Messi-esque goal and Simons looked like a new player, Randal Kolo Muani has taken some criticism from those in Denmark.

Kolo Muani missed chances during Tottenham’s win over Copenhagen

Thomas Frank had high hopes for Kolo Muani earlier this season, but the Frenchman’s impact in North London has been limited so far.

He has played just 146 minutes of Premier League football, in part due to injuries, but was given a start in the Champions League this week.

Muani featured for 72 minutes and provided one assist before being taken off, but the centre-forward is still searching for his first Tottenham goal on the back of his loan move from PSG.

On that front, the Danish press were quick to highlight how many chances the 26-year-old missed against Copenhagen.

In the 36th minute, TV2 praised the impact of Simons but bemoaned his lack of connection with Muani.

They wrote: “A lot goes through Xavi Simons in the middle, and the Dutchman shows himself well. However, he lacks that last bit in the interaction with Kolo Muani up front.”

Four minutes later, they wrote how ‘Tottenham should have doubled their lead’ via the 26-year-old, who was ‘completely free in front of goal’ but sent his shot wide.

Then, right on the stroke of half-time, they commented on another huge chance he missed.

They added: “For the second time in a few minutes, Randal Kolo Muani squanders a 100 percent chance. He is completely free in front of the box once again and this time resorts to a header. That didn’t work either, and the shot doesn’t even force Kotarski to make a save.

“If we add that he received a yellow card after 39 minutes, it is not too much to conclude that he has had five nightmare minutes, to put it mildly.”

Patience needed with Kolo Muani

While he’s yet to get up to speed in England, football expert Raphael Honigstein has suggested patience is needed with Kolo Muani.

He said: “We’ve seen a lot of the forwards coming into the league this season; there is a bedding-in process.

“I think a bit of patience is in order, but if Spurs look after him well and develop him, I expect him to play a very big role in what looks a very exciting team.”

Former Bayern Munich star Luca Toni thinks Muani is better than Joao Pedro and several more strikers, but so far, we have yet to see the very best of him in the English capital.
