Klopp says van Dijk is not injured but Jota and Salah have knocks
Jurgen Klopp has offered an injury update on his Liverpool squad after they booked their spot in the Champions League semi-finals.
The Reds had most of the heavy lifting done from the first leg, taking a 3-1 lead into the game at Anfield, although of course Benfica could not be taken lightly.
They got 3-1 ahead here, before two late goals showed Benfica’s refusal to lie down without offering any meaningful chance of a comeback.
Speaking to the club’s official website, when asked for the latest injury news, Klopp said: “We missed [Van Dijk]; we played the last line completely new and we missed the boys of the last line, if you want.
“[Van Dijk] is not injured. Diogo got a knock in the first half, that’s what I know. About Mo’s knock, I don’t know really, nobody told me yet.
“I changed with two physios and nobody said to me Mo has a problem, so for the moment everybody should be fine.”
Liverpool’s next match is another crunch encounter with Manchester City, this time in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley.
The game should have been moved to another location given the train chaos, but the FA have not been proactive with the situation.
On the pitch, Liverpool will hope to play a shade better than they did at the Etihad Stadium, but a 2-2 draw would earn a penalty shoot-out at Wembley.
