Klopp plays down Salah form, says he must do what Mane is doing

Jurgen Klopp has come to the defence of Mo Salah, with the Egyptian struggling in front of goal of late.

The winger hasn’t netted in any of his last seven games, meaning he is currently on his worst ‘drought’ since joining the club for £39 million (The Daily Mail).

He has 20 goals across all competitions so far, but his incredible debut season at Anfield in which he scored 44 times has seemingly proven to be a hindrance.

In the eyes of his manager though, Salah simply needs to copy Sadio Mane’s game.

The Senegalese speedster is in blistering form having scored 11 goals in his last 11 games, taking his own tally to 20 for the season.

Speaking via the club’s official website, Klopp said: “The only thing he [Mane] did when he was not always in the right spot was work and work and work. That’s exactly what Mo has to do, exactly the same: just work, do the right things and it will come again.

“He’s just rather unlucky, where Sadio is lucky in the moment – he is in brilliant shape, that’s true.”

TBR’s view

It’s alien territory for Salah at the moment.

The goals have dried up in recent weeks which will be an unusual feeling for the talisman.

But Klopp is right with his assessment. He doesn’t seem overly concerned, especially since Mane is firing on all cyllinders.

In some instances recently Salah has been unfortunate not to score, but the fact that he is always busy on the pitch is a major positive for Liverpool.

With Mane banging in the goals it is less significant that Salah has been less potent.

He is still working hard for the team and trying to make things happen and, as Klopp says, it could be simply just be a case of luck.

Essentially, Salah ought to keep working hard in order to make his own luck.
