Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United play host to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this Sunday, as the Red Devils look to close the five point gap on their second-place rivals.
The hosts head into the weekend tie at the summit of the for table, having recorded nine consecutive victories, in all competitions. Meanwhile, Liverpool won on four occasions in the same number of games.
This is the first time the two sides have met since playing out a 0-0 draw at Anfield in October.
Here are three key stats ahead of Sunday’s heavyweight clash…
1 – Klopp has the upper-hand over Mourinho
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp boasts the statistical advantage, over Jose Mourinho, ahead of Sunday’s match.
Impressively, the German head coach has lost just one of his six meetings with his Portuguese counterpart (W3 D2 L1), with that defeat coming in 2013 via a 2-0 away loss for Dortmund versus Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final second leg.
This is unlikely to faze Mourinho, however, considering his side head into this match with nine wins in their last nine matches.
Nonetheless, the United head coach will still have sore memories of Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat of his Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge last season – a result that marked Klopp’s first victory following his arrival at Anfield.
