Liverpool return to Champions League action tonight when they take on Inter Milan in the last 16 of the competition.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds outfit cruised into the last 16 of the Champions League by winning all six of their Group B games.

This included victories against Inter’s city rivals AC Milan.

Liverpool have a fairly clean bill of health ahead of the meeting with the Serie A champions.

Reds captain Jordan Henderson is available following the knock he suffered against Burnley at the weekend.

At his pre-match press conference, Klopp revealed there are no new injury issues for Liverpool heading into the game.

However, there’s certainly scope for the Liverpool boss to make a couple of changes.

Joel Matip struggled at times against the Clarets, particularly in the first half.

While the 30-year-old did improve later on in the game, Klopp could potentially opt to give him a rest.

If that was the case, Ibrahima Konate could come in to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back.

The 22-year-old joined the Reds for £36million in July last year, arriving at Anfield to much fanfare.

Liverpool boss Klopp has used Konate sparingly to date, handing him 14 appearances so far this season.

However, the Frenchman has featured in two Champions League games this term and 10 throughout his career.

There’s no doubt Konate would do a superb job for Liverpool tonight, as he did against Milan in December.

“The potential to be amazing”

Last week, Trent Alexander-Arnold sat down with Konate to discuss his inclusion in the FIFA Future Stars Class of 2022.

The Future Stars promo sees some great youngsters with world class potential receive special cards with big upgrades.

And before handing Konate’s card to him, Alexander-Arnold spoke highly of his teammate.

“He’s got potential to be amazing,” the Anfield academy graduate told the Liverpool media team.

“I’m able to see the boy every single day in training, and in games, and play with him.

“So I know that he can reach whatever level he wants to if he works hard enough.

“It’s a chance to be a once-in-a-generation player for me. He’s got that potential in him.”
