Liverpool might have seen off Norwich City today at Anfield but Jurgen Klopp was the bearer of bad news following the game as he updated people on Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian was missing from the squad today in something of a surprise to Liverpool fans. His injury status was unknown at the time, but now, Klopp has confirmed the news Reds fans didn’t want.

Speaking on his post-match press conference, Klopp conceded that his number nine will be missing for some time.

“Diogo (Jota) was not available and we don’t know how long it will take, Bobby Firmino has a muscle problem and is out for a while, so we have to keep the boys fit and create a spirit like the boys did today in the game,” Klopp told the BBC.

Firmino being out will be a huge blow for the Reds. Klopp’s men are involved in all the competitions and are already missing Diogo Jota through injury. The Portuguese forward was another to miss out against Norwich today.

Of course, the good news for Liverpool is that Luis Diaz has adapted instantly. The Colombian was superb at Anfield today and looks every bit the quality player Klopp thought he was buying.

TBR’s View: Firmino Injury A Huge Blow For Liverpool

He might not always start now for Liverpool but losing someone with the experience and quality Firmino has is a massive blow for the Reds.

He showed his class in Milan in midweek and he’d no doubt have played today if fit.

For Liverpool, they’ll need others to step up. Diaz is already showing his class, but the likes of Origi and Minamino will also need to show everyone they too can contribute.

Certainly, that will be what Klopp is hoping anyway as he and the team try to deal with missing one of their key players from the last few seasons.
