Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio has reaffirmed his belief that Greg Taylor is going nowhere this month. The left-back has emerged as a potential transfer target for Celtic.
As reported by the Scottish Sun, the Killie boss is unaware of any bid for his player. Speaking after a 0-0 draw with Aberdeen at Rugby Park, he stated that Taylor only missed the game due to an injury and that reports linking with Celtic currently amount to mere rumours.
“Yesterday after the warm-up there was a wee problem with the hamstring.
“At the moment it’s only rumours. I don’t think the club has received any offers from Celtic.
“We have spoken to the club and the owner and we want to keep our best players.”
That stance is backed up by The Scotsman. They suggest Taylor is ‘not on the verge’ of a move with no Celtic bid currently in the offing.
The Daily Record reported last week that Celtic had been in touch with Kilmarnock regarding the Scotland international. Killie have reportedly placed a £3 million price-tag on the versatile young talent.
There is no doubt that Taylor would be a fantastic recruit for Celtic. The Bhoys lost their star left-back in Kieran Tierney this summer, after a big-money move to Arsenal.
Therefore, spending £3 million on a player of Taylor’s talents would seem like a no-brainer from the Celtic hierarchy.
But as fans at Parkhead know, the behind-the-scenes work at Celtic can often be frustrating.
Whilst Kilmarnock are currently standing firm, this is surely a transfer saga that could go down to the wire in Glasgow.
