Kiko Casilla unlikely to be dropped by Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, according to report

Leeds United face a crunch Championship promotion clash this evening as they face in-form Brentford. The Whites have a horrific recent record at Griffin Park and defeat tonight would see the Bees leapfrog Leeds into the automatic promotion slots.

Leeds have been on a poor run of recent form. The Whites have won just two of their past ten league games. Brentford, have lost just once in the same period.

One of the players receiving a large chunk of the blame for that poor run is goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

The Spaniard has struggled for form, being regularly beaten at his near post and struggling to deal with crosses into the box. The result has been Leeds losing games they might, have previously, drawn.

It has seen plenty of Leeds fans suggest that Ilan Meslier should get a chance instead of Casilla between the sticks when Leeds face Brentford tonight, especially after his impressive display against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

However, those fans look set to be disappointed. As reported by BBC West Yorkshire Sport reporter Adam Pope, Casilla looks unlikely to be dropped.

Whilst Casilla is not currently in a good run of form, replacing him with the inexperienced Meslier for this game would be a huge risk. Brentford are the league’s second-highest scorers and it would be a huge ask of Meslier to shut them out.

Casilla, however, must know his position is under threat after a string of disappointing displays. Leeds fans will hope that can inspire the one-cap Spanish international into a top performance. If not, the pitchforks will be out once again.
