Tottenham Hotspur were left thanking their lucky stars that they came away from Molineux with all three points yesterday. After taking a 3-0 lead, two penalties allowed Wolves back into the game, which ended 3-2 to Spurs.
It was a tough game for Spurs, but they will be pleased to have come away with all three points.
One player who had a topsy-turvy game was Kieran Trippier. The England international has been criticised by fans at Spurs in recent weeks. He has put in some poor performances and defensively he was caught out badly in the recent loss to Manchester City.
Defensively he was again poor for Tottenham at the weekend, often getting caught out and making a mistake that led to the first penalty award.
However, going forward, he remained a threat.
Trippier delivered a pin-point cross for Lucas Moura to header home and it was a display that summed up why Tottenham fans are so frustrated with their full-back.
Trippier provides plenty going forward, however, defensively he has looked a liability recently, with Tottenham fans suggesting Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters might be worth a place in the team ahead of him.
If he could find some defensive focus, then Tottenham would have a top player on their hands. But if there was ever a game that symbolised why Trippier frustrates Tottenham fans so much, this was it.
