Kieran Trippier departed Tottenham Hotspur during the summer, moving to Atletico Madrid for £20 million, according to The Guardian.
The 28-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by boss Mauricio Pochettino and perhaps surprisingly headed for La Liga.
During his time at Tottenham, the right-back played 114 games helping Spurs to the Champions League final last season.
Last night saw Trippier get his Atletico Madrid career off to an absolute flyer. His delightful cross met the head of Alvaro Morata to give the England international an assist in his very first game.
It offered the Atletico faithful an immediate insight into what their new recruit is all about. His defending on the night was very good too and he appears to have newfound confidence at his new employers.
Trippier will hope to use his move to the Spanish capital as a catalyst to revive his career.
Since his stunning free-kick in the World Cup semi-final last summer he has struggled to scale such highs.
His form stuttered at Tottenham last season and he will be keen to show what he is capable of at Atletico.
Following his debut performance, Spurs supporters were talking about their former player on Twitter.
Here is a selection of tweets from Tottenham fans regarding Trippier’s debut:

Whoever told a Atletico to buy Trippier deserves a pay rise. One of the best ball crossers

This might not go down well, but… I’ve got a bad feeling that we shouldn’t of sold Trippier.
Especially when we never replaced aswell.

Brilliant cross by Kieran Trippier for setting up first Atletico Madrid goal of the season.
Why did Spurs sell him?
