Injury stricken Kieran Trippier posts on Twitter as Newcastle see off Aston Villa

Newcastle United fans might have been celebrating a win over Aston Villa today but they are also sweating on the fitness of new defensive hero, Kieran Trippier.

Well, we call him a defensive hero. But Trippier has now scored in consecutive games and looks to have really upped the standards at St James’ Park since his arrival. The England man is showing his class, and the rest of the Newcastle squad seem to be following suit.

However, there is a great concern among the Toon Army that Trippier could be injured. The full-back hobbled off and reports have since claimed he’s been back at the ground wearing a protective boot. Of course, that injury could be anything and Newcastle fans are eagerly awaiting an update.

That’s why, then, Trippier’s latest tweet is not what the Mags fans wanted to see. And while Trippier hasn’t done anything wrong in simply celebrating a win, he’s not given anything away when it comes to his injury.

While there’ll be frustration here among the Toon fans, the fact is that Trippier himself probably doesn’t know how things are looking.

Like with a lot of injuries, he’ll be awaiting a scan and proper prognosis. From there, he’ll probably be able to – or the club will – provide an update on things.

Newcastle fans probably got excited when they saw Trippier take to Twitter. But all they’re left to do now is keep their fingers crossed for good news this week.
