Kieran Tierney says Arsenal have a top talent in their ranks who's absolute 'quality'
Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney has waxed lyrical about Gunners teammate Bukayo Saka, calling him a “quality” player.
The Gunners may have endured a pretty dire season, but Tierney and Saka have been two of Arsenal’s best players this term.
Tierney has kicked on massively following a difficult maiden campaign at the Emirates hampered by injury.
The Scotland international has made 38 appearances for Arsenal this season.
He has won plaudits for his great displays, hard-working demeanour, leadership skills, and likeable personality.
Meanwhile, Saka has followed up an impressive breakthrough 2019-20 with an even better campaign this time round.
The 19-year-old has made 46 appearances for Arsenal this term and has cemented his place as one of the leading young talents of today.
Both Tierney and Saka have also excelled at international level, and could well end up facing off on the pitch this summer.
England are in the same group as Scotland at Euro 2020, and the two nations will meet at Wembley on 18 June.
“There’s just a real feeling of optimism,” Tierney told the Scottish Sun. “We (Scotland) know what we’re capable of.
“I’m used to playing in huge games for Celtic and Arsenal. But on an international stage this is going to be as big as it gets really.
“I played in the 2-2 game against England at Hampden and that was amazing, one of the best atmospheres ever.
“Wembley will be incredible, too, and it’s great there’s every chance of a big crowd for it.
“My Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka will hopefully be in the England squad. He’s a quality player.”
The only way Arsenal fans will want to remember 2020-21 is if they’re flying high in a couple of years and will reminisce about this season as a reminder of how bad they used to be.
However, Saka and Tierney have stood out amid the mediocrity and hopefully they’ll be key players as the club looks to rebuild in the aftermath of this campaign.
