Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva has praised Gunners defender Kieran Tierney, saying he loves the passion with which the Scot plays.
The Brazilian, who was a part of Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles, selected Tierney as his Arsenal player of the week.
Mikel Arteta’s side actually lost 1-0 to Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium in what was a deeply disappointing result, but Gilberto was happy to reserve praise for Tierney, who was one of the hosts’ better players on the night.
Taking to social media, he said: “In my podcast this week I name @kierantierney1. My player of the week. The Leicester game was tough one but his hard work stood out, I love the passion he plays the game with and his hunger to learn and improve. Keep up the good work Kieran.”
The 23-year-old responded to the message, writing: “Thank you very much legend.”
Gilberto’s take is likely to be shared by many Arsenal fans, who have watched Tierney become an integral part of the side since his arrival last year.

Injury problems limited his game time a little in 2019/20, but the former Celtic star has made a brilliant start to 2020/21.
TBR’s View – Plenty more to come from Tierney
There’s a good chance £80,000-a-week star Tierney (Spotrac) will scoop Gilberto’s player of the week award many more times this season.
Arsenal have undoubtedly struck gold with the left-footer’s transfer and it’s little wonder he is already a firm favourite at the Emirates.
Whether he’s at left-back or left centre-back, Tierney is solid and his potential is definitely very exciting for the Arsenal faithful.
