'He's an amazing player': Kieran Tierney blown away by 21-year-old Arsenal youngster this season
Kieran Tierney has lavishes the praise on his Arsenal teammate and fellow defender, William Saliba, in an interview ahead of this weekend.
Arsenal face Leeds this week looking to keep atop the Premier League table. Tierney has so far played a more bit part role than he’d like, with Oleksandr Zinchenko preferred as the number one left-back for Mikel Arteta thus far.
However, that hasn’t stopped Tierney playing his part and praising his teammates. And speaking to Sky, Tierney has lauded the impact French defender Saliba has had.
“Saliba’s done amazing’. I’m genuinely so happy. He’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He found it tough when he came here at the start he was really young, had to go on loan a few times,” Tierney told Sky.
“But it just shows the character he’s got to come in and be like he’s been here for years. All credit to him. He’s an amazing player, amazing guy, and deserves every bit of good that comes to him.”
Saliba and Gabriel have formed an excellent partnership at centre-back. It’s allowed Mikel Arteta to implement his tactics perfectly, with the Gunners flying high.
TBR’s View: Saliba Simply Superb For Arsenal
Tierney comes across as the ultimate team player and his praise for Saliba is a nice touch here. And waranted.
Saliba has been nothing short of brilliant since coming back to Arsenal and he is truly showing the talent he has on a weekly basis now.
Tierney is clearly impressed, and so he should be. If Saliba stays fit, keeps up his levels, and improves further, then Arsenal might well come close to winning that title after all.
